Khanya Cekeshe, A Media Academy student who is serving five-years in jail @ Leeukop prison for burning a police van in Braamfontein at height of #FeesMustFall protest in 2016 was denied leave to appeal his sentence at Johannesburg Regional Court on Thursday. Since 2015 in south Africa students started complaining about how much they are paying for their fees, this came out when Universities started increasing the fees and expecting students to pay more. I think the issue of fees must fall is a never ending process, its been on for years now and even today students are still paying for their own fees, I think the Government should make an agreement with the students to pay at-least 70% of their fees since it has failed to cover the whole amount. In the process of marches, many students get hurt  because the police are being instructed to shoot.

This happened in the University of Witwatersrand  in the year 2016 when students protested for their rights, police men were  given the authority to shoot as innocent as they are, they shot student who fought for their right , matter fact the shot students for crying out loud for help. It very important for students to be strategic about this issue because if they don't, the black poverty will never end, most people who cannot afford their studies are very rare, it is very rare to find a white students studying with a bursary, they all pay cash on top of that they are driving expensive cars.I think there is a very big improvement because during the fees must fall marches even white students took part to help the black students, the video below shows exactly what happened;

FACTORS AFFECTING THE FEES MUST FALL CAMPAIGN

The Fees must fall campaign is affected by the Government and the Private investors, I think the government and private investors can assist in giving the students free education if only they were willing to, so they are all not serious about this matter for it could have been solved long time ago. The currency of our country also has an effect on the fees must fall campaign, compared to the United State of America and other neighboring counties the rand is too weak. Private investors generate a lot of income from the public, so it should at-least give back to the community by funding things such as education and orphanages. The first black president of South Africa, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela once said" young people must take it upon themselves to ensure that they get the highest education to be able to represent us in future"

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR THE PUBLIC RELATIONS PRACTITIONER BASED ON THE FEES MUST FALL.

ADVANTAGES

  • Students gets more recognition on their matches
  • students who got injured in the process and given an opportunity to speak up were given funds

DISADVANTAGES

  • Students who insulted the government faced charges regardless of the situation
  • students who destroyed government property and spotted on TV faced a sentence imprisonment

RECOMMENDATIONS

I think the #feesmustfall campaign is a waste of time since the government is not willing to make it happen, its been going since 2016 but even today the students are still paying for their own fees. I think the students should be more strategic when approaching this matter, the should find a more strategic way of making the government consider their request.

  5. It's high time the government should hear the out-cry of the students, therefore they are so passionate about learning,but limited by the constant increasing fee cost.
